But, I can say, just to add my own two cents, that The United States has always seemed to me to be the worst country on the planet, except for every other one. (think about it!) To me, there are two things that go into the "Great Experiment" that make it an amazing achievement, if only in concept:
Those two documents are the sorts of things I WOULD be willing to fight and die for, even if they are often used (sadly) to send people to fight and die for other things that are less than pure in motivation.
I'll post more specific stuff about my little piece of this big hunk of dirt in a subsequent post....but wanted to get the basics here to start the thread!

I've lived in Vancouver for about 3 years now. It is a great place to live. It has all the benifits of a small town, but is also a quick drive to the city. here is a link to get more info on "The Couve."
I love Portland. I lived about 25 miles outside the city from when I was 12 to 20 years old. My friends and I used to travel into town using MAX (our light rail system)

This is the skyline... Portland is also known as Bridgetown since there are eleven bridges through out the city.

If you are a beer fan... Portland is the place to go. Henry Weinhard's and Blitz-Weinhard are some brands that were first brewed in Portland in 1856. Through out the year Portland hosts many beer festivals including; Beer and Wine Festival, Portland International Beerfest and the Holiday Ale Festival.
Currently there are about 28 breweries in Portland including McMenamin's who have over thirty brewpubs and distilleries in the Metro area.
If you are a sports fan Portland has many teams to choose from:
Trial Blazers -- Basketball -- NBA
Timbers -- Soccer -- United Soccer Leauges, 1st Division
Winter Hawkes -- Ice Hockey -- Western Hockey League
Beavers -- Baseball -- Pacific Coast League
LumberJax -- Indoor Lacrosse -- National Lacrosse League
Chinooks -- Basketball -- International Basketball League
Riptide -- Basketball -- American Basketball Association
In the Portland/Vancouver metro area we are about 60 miles from both the Pacific ocean, Mount Hood and Mount Saint Helens. My favorite place to visit on the coast is Cannon Beach.
