Ok i'll have a try, i'm not an expert on my area by any means but i have a few pictures that might give you an idea of what my part of england is like.
There are a lot of towns and little villages in my area all kinda of merging together. but it doesn't matter how many houses they build all you have to do is look up slightly higher than the pavement and you will see the countryside. This next picture is taken from the town i live in, but it isn't my street so don't go trying to stalk me on google earth
The landmark that dominates our counrtyside is pendle hill, unfortunately in the last picture its off to the right and you can't see it, but you can pretty much see it from every other place in pendle
Not only is our landmark and logo on most pendle related things its the place the pendle witches hid during the witch hunts waaaay back when. They were caught and sent to the tower of london and were eventually hanged. Theres a whole legend about em but mostly they were just a group of women who lived apart from the community and of course that meant they were witches.
you'll see this logo pretty much everywhere around here.
We also still have a steam railway, mostly running tourists around but its nice to see the magnificent things still in action - far more attractive than the deisels (and no i'm not a train spotter i just like the look of steam trains )
And last but by no means least we have ........ (drumroll please)
BLACKPOOL TOWER
i know what ya thinking ... poor mans eiffel huh? ... but no! our tower is built on a whole entertainment complex including the tower ballroom
So nerner paris
Well not exactly a well thought out tour guide but this is some of lancashire as i see it.
Enjoy |
